Rob Morris is an eccentric. Much of his prose comes directly from
the school of “I don’t give a shit whether people like it; this is what I have to say”… and as you might have guessed, someone
like me appreciates that quite a bit.
For those of you who believe there’s not an author on the planet
that could combine the universes of Star
Trek and Godzilla effectively… prepare to eat your words and/or amend your
thinking. Rob’s Ancient Destroyer is
poignant, eloquent, quirky and, if you’re open-minded enough, utterly
compelling. He did me the honor of writing a sequel drabble
to “The Road Less Traveled.”
I added one line; the rest is all Rob.

"Breaking your own heart is always a questionable tactic.
Also, you knew Mantovanni was like that.” Keeps
something in… strategic reserve, he thought.
Demora Sulu
drank some beer then downed part of a hamburger.
"Are you going to lecture me, or are you going to be my friend?"
"Kid, I changed your diapers and I was your first babysitter.
I am your friend. I'm just trying to
understand it all."
"You can't
understand. You can't know what it’s like to fear being swallowed up by someone
else's reflected glory!"
Commander Peter Kirk waited until she caught herself on that one.
