I read this piece, pondered it, puzzled
over it… and finally handed it, in complete perplexity, to my wife.
Gab went through it once, said,
"It's excellent," and passed it back.
"What the hell is he saying?"
I inquired.
She told me.
My insightful response, you ask?
"Oh… OK."
Rather than beat you over the head with its meaning, let's see what

"Inhibitions"

Sera MacLeod's discovery helped protect the Federation, but every death
by quantum torpedo rested on her—an unbearable weight.
Her stasis field would end the deaths and balance the books.
The simulations began.
"Excellent."
The energies of warp drive and weapons became inert while leaving life
support to its job, as predicted.
An alarm.
"Damn."
The quantum fields and balance of quarks shifted.
"No."
Jean-Luc Picard had destroyed the one known
quantum inhibitor years ago. It stopped fusion reactions within stars and
exterminated all life orbiting them.
Sera breathed and touched the display.
"Please verify purge."
The ultimate weapon evaporated.
